5. Inclusive and Accessible

Inclusion is a fundamental principle of QPE.

Every learner has the right to participate regardless of ability, disability, gender, ethnicity, culture, religion, socioeconomic background or previous experience (Fitzgerald and Stride, 2012).

QPE actively removes barriers to participation and creates learning environments where all learners feel valued, respected and capable of success.

In practice

  • Activities are adapted where necessary.
  • Multiple pathways to success are provided.
  • Student voice is valued.
  • Inclusive language is used.
  • Diversity is celebrated.
