4. Engaging Curriculum

QPE offers a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum.

The curriculum should reflect cultural diversity, local contexts and learner interests while aligning with national or state requirements and exposing students to new experiences and opportunities.

An engaging curriculum encourages participation, curiosity, challenge and enjoyment. It should include a wide range of movement forms, including games, sport, dance, fitness activities, outdoor learning and creative movement experiences that motivate students to be active (Mitchell et al., 2013).

In practice

  • Curriculum reflects student needs and interests.
  • Diverse activities are included.
  • Learning is meaningful and enjoyable.
  • Students are actively engaged.
  • Opportunities for creativity are provided.
