6. Assessment and Progression

Assessment is integral to learning.

QPE uses assessment to support learning, inform teaching and celebrate progress.

Assessment should be authentic, meaningful and aligned with learning objectives (Hay and Penney, 2013). It should focus on individual growth and development rather than comparison with others.

• Learning intentions are clear.
• Feedback is constructive and timely.
• Progress is monitored regularly.
• Assessment informs future teaching.
• Students are involved in self-assessment.
